Robbie Horgan has continued adding to his 2014 squad over the weekend and today secured his 11th signature in the form of 25 year old goalkeeper Dave Ryan.
Dave, younger brother of Limerick goalkeeper Barry, began his League of Ireland career with Galway United before moving to Limerick where he spent six seasons and most recently St. Patrick’s Athletic and Cork City.
“I’d like to thank Robbie for giving me this opportunity and I’m really looking forward to a new, fresh start in Drogheda”, enthused the Ennis native.
“I can’t emphasise enough how pleased and excited I am to sign for Drogheda and I can’t wait to get going in January. I hope that I will assist the club in attaining some silverware in 2013 because I think they were incredibly unlucky last season.”
Robbie Horgan commented, “I’ve now got the ideal scenario with two quality keepers and a quality goalkeeping coach. Dermot O’Neill is very excited at the prospect of working with two goalkeepers of this calibre and bringing them on even further.”
“Michéal Schlingermann and Gabriel Sava had a great rapport and pushed each other very hard last season. And I feel that Michéal and Dave will do the same for each other this coming season.”
Horgan also had some words for Gabriel Sava, “I’d like to thank Gabriel for his services over the last number of years. I spoke with him and he has a number of offers which he is considering. He understood that I could not let the opportunity to sign Dave slip by while he considered his options.”
