Robbie Horgan has today added his 16th player to the 2014 squad with the signing of former Bray midfielder Daire Doyle.
Drogheda fans will have got an inkling of what lay ahead as Doyle impressed when Robbie Horgan brought him on for the second half of Drogheda’s recent friendly against Glebe North.
The Swords native will be no stranger to League of Ireland supporters having been a key player with Bray since 2009 when he signed from Longford Town. He started his professional career with Coventry City where he played under Gordon Strachan and he also played for former Liverpool legend Jan Molby during a spell at Kidderminster Harriers.
In total Daire made 108 league appearances for Bray.
He can play in three different positions – right full, centre half and central midfield, the latter being his favoured position. He is a versatile player but has expressed his wish to cement himself a place in one particular position this season.
Robbie Horgan commented “I’m very happy to have Daire on board. He has really impressed in the recent training sessions and in the game the other night against Glebe. He is very vocal, brings huge experience into the side and I know he will be a great asset.”
