Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Gavin Brennan has joined the club ahead of the 2017 season.
This will be the local midfielder’s second spell at the club having departed Shamrock Rovers towards the end of last season.
He first joined Drogheda in 2011 and was a vital part of the club’s EA Sport Cup success and second-place finish in the league the following season.
The 28-year-old played in both legs of Drogheda’s Europa League tie with Malmo and was then named captain by manager Robbie Horgan before leaving for the Hoops in 2015.
Speaking on his new signing, Drogheda United manager Pete Mahon was pleased to welcome Gavin back to the club and is expecting him to be a key member of next season’s squad.
“We are delighted to have Gavin on board for next season,” Mahon said Saturday afternoon. “He is a quality Premier Division player that is comfortable playing in a number of positions.
“The fact that he is a local lad will bring a bit of extra interest to the town and I know from meeting Gavin and from listening to others how passionate he is about the club. I am hoping Gavin will play a big role in us having a successful season.”
