After their 4-4 away draw with League leaders Bohemians on Tuesday Night, where ace striker Stephen Meaney was sent off, the Drogs Under 19s got back to winning ways on Saturday at United Park, when they ran out easy 6-0 winners against Longford Town.
Emmet Carolan came on for the suspended Meaney with Karl Fitzsimons moving to striker, while the only other change was in goals where Jamie Hickey replaced Harry Hogan.
This settled lineup showed no ill effects from their tough match on Tuesdays and were a goal in front after 15 minutes from a Sean Tunney header.
The score remained 1-0 at half time but after manager Derek Boyle’s team talk at the break, they hit five goals in the second period to thoroughly over-run the visiting defence. Second half scorers were Mark Doyle (2), Lee Partridge, James Carroll, and substitute Brian Cabraley.
