The Drogs continued on their winning ways on Saturday at United Park where two superb goals at the start of the second half put the result beyond doubt against a battling Finn Harps team.
The opening half saw the Drogs pressing well from the flanks with Darcy and Grogan on the left and Doyle and Carroll on the right.
They were ably supported by a solid defence and a strong midfield where Karl Fitzsimons and Kyle Molloy excelled.
Although the Drogs created plenty of chances in the first half a combination of bad luck and good Harps defending kept the game scoreless at half time.
The second half opened up with a corner for the Drogs after two minutes and Karl Fitzsimons’ superb delivery was sent to the net with a superb header from James Carroll.
With the cushion and confidence from a great lead goal, the Drogs settled down and played some great football with Mark Doyle unlucky not to add a second goal on 53 minutes.
Substitute Brian Cabraley came on for Conor Grogan on the left and produced some great touches on the left and on the hour he sent a brilliant through ball down the middle and Stephen Meaney timed his run perfectly to wrong-foot the keeper and slide the ball into the net for a second brilliant goal.
On 70 minutes Cabraley and Eoin Broughan had great shots blocked out and although they created a few more chances, the Drogs were not able to add to their total. This was another great win for the Drogs and they welcomed Lee Partridge back from a long spell out with injury for part of the second half.
