Fresh from their draw with Dundalk last week, the Drogs Under 17s finished their regular season with an unlucky loss to St Pats by the slimmest of margins. The game was only 18 seconds old when the visitors took with an attack down the right which caught the home defence cold and there was little keeper Ben Murphy could do to prevent what proved to be the decisive goal.
After this initial reverse, the Drogs settled down well against a strong Pats side, with midfielder Frank Cabraley having one of his best games for the club – strong on the ball and providing good link between attack and defence. At the back, Sam O’Brien was solid and dependable and gave very little away.
The Drogs showed plenty of character and skill in this game they will be looking to build on their good run of form over the last few weeks when the Shield competition starts next week.
