Drogheda United v Bray Wanderers

Match Report

EA Sports Cup
Drogs 1 - Bray 3

A forgettable night for the Drogs saw them knocked out of the EA Sports Cup at a sparsely-populated Hunky Dorys Park. After taking the lead on 53 minutes through a good John Flood goal, they only held the lead for seven minutes before Bray equalised. Bray's second came 10 minutes from time and they scored their third in injury time. The Drogs fielded quite a strong side with only Alan McNally, Jamie Duffy and Paul Crowley being rested. Robbie Martin pulled up with injury in the warm up and Ryan Brennan played the full ninety.

Bray looked dangerous from early on and the home goal lead a charmed life, with the visitors failing to score with a number of gilt-edged chances. Half time saw us at 0-0 and we brightened up on the restart and created some chances. On 49 Paul Murphy made a brilliant point-blank save and we took the lead on 53 when John Flood took advantage of a good Glen Fitz pass to score from close-in. But, in a pattern which seems to be our difficulty at the present time, we switched off defensively and the remainder of the game was forgettable, in fact I've forgotten the rest. Roll on Rovers!

Team: Murphy, King, Harris (McNally77), Kendrick, Osbourne, Brennan (Duffy 71), Flood, E. McGill (Crowley 82), Fitzpatrick, O'Connor, Daly.
